This recipe for Parle G brownies is a true throwback to your childhood! While many of us grew up munching on this famous biscuit, we were all introduced to brownies later in life. However, have you ever wondered how a brownie made using Parle G would taste? Even if you haven’t, this is a simple recipe to try out when you have a dearth of ingredients at home but would like a sweet treat. This recipe is by Sonal Nanavati, and here is how she was inspired to come up with it.
“As a child I had visited the Parle G biscuit factor. About ten to twelve years ago, when my children were young and the sizzling brownies were trending, I decided to try this recipe. I wanted to use all the easily available ingredients and this is how I got this. ParleG has flour, baking soda, baking powder and sugar so what was left was the fat and some cocoa powder and a medium to activate the leavening agents. So this dessert comes together very easily.”
Parle G Brownies
Ingredients:
- Parle G biscuit packet – 1 full packet (the Rs. 10 one)
- Cocoa powder – 4 tbsp (sieve to avoid lumps)
- Powdered sugar – 3 to 4 tbsp
- Milk – 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp
- Fresh cream (malai) – 2 and 1/2 tbsp
- Baking Soda – 1 tsp Or Eno – 1, the regular blue sachet
- Lime juice – 3 to 4 drops
Method:
- Crush Parle G biscuits into a powder using a mixer and sieve it. Ensure that there are no biscuit chunks. You can run it in the mixer again to ensure a smooth consistency.
- Now mix all the ingredients (except the baking soda and lime juice) in a bowl and mix well until you get a well combined batter.
- If you think the batter is too thick, add a bit of little milk.
- Now, add baking soda and the lime juice to the batter. It will become frothy. Mix only until the baking soda mixture gets incorporated into the batter, and take care to not overmix.
- Pour the batter in a 8×8 or 9×7 tray, and bake this a preheated kadai for 15 minutes on high flame and five minutes on low flame. You will have to place the tray in the kadai and cover it with a plate.
- If you are using an oven, bake for 15 to 20 min at 160°C after preheating it.
- Allow it to cool for an hour and then slice. Enjoy!
